The School Counseling program at 桃汁影院 is committed to more than just academic preparation鈥 it's about cultivating confident, connected and competent school counselors who are ready to lead and serve in their communities. One of the most impactful ways the program supports this mission is through intentional networking and professional development opportunities that enrich student learning and elevate their training experience.

Equipping Students with Real-World Tools

Through a grant, WSU鈥檚 School Counseling program created a School Counseling Resource Closet, a unique lending library stocked with curriculum kits, therapeutic games, books and classroom tools. Practicum and internship students can check out these materials to try out evidence-based interventions and activities at their field sites. This hands-on access empowers students to experiment, reflect, and grow in their professional practice鈥攁ll while building confidence and competence in real-world settings.

Elevating Access to National and State Conferences

Professional development can be cost-prohibitive, especially for graduate students. That鈥檚 why 桃汁影院 has prioritized grant-funded conference attendance to ensure its students have access to learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Students have traveled to the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Conference and the Kansas School Counselor Association (KSCA) Conference, gaining exposure to the latest research, best practices and national conversations shaping the future of school counseling. These experiences not only deepen content knowledge but also strengthen students鈥 sense of identity within the broader professional community.

Fostering Leadership from Day One

桃汁影院 students aren鈥檛 just attending conferences鈥攖hey鈥檙e taking the stage. The program actively connects students to leadership positions within the KSCA board, encouraging early engagement in advocacy, governance and strategic planning for the profession. These opportunities give students a voice and a seat at the table, nurturing a new generation of school counseling leaders who understand the value of service and collaboration.

Bringing Experts to Campus

To further bridge the gap between theory and practice, the program frequently invites nationally recognized school counseling leaders to engage with students. Whether through keynote sessions at the on-campus KSCA Conference or through in-class panels and knowledge shares, students learn directly from changemakers in the field. These interactions foster meaningful dialogue, spark inspiration and help students see themselves as contributors to the evolving narrative of school counseling.

Building SEL Capacity Across Kansas

In summer 2025, the program will host an SEL Camp for educators across the state鈥攁 space where teachers, counselors, and school leaders can deepen their understanding of social-emotional learning and explore how to better integrate it into their school communities.

From classroom to conference halls, 桃汁影院鈥檚 School Counseling program is redefining what it means to prepare school counselors. By investing in professional development, leadership cultivation, and real-world application, the program is not only enriching student learning鈥攊t鈥檚 shaping the future of school counseling in Kansas and beyond.

The School Counseling Program is a graduate program and accepts students with a bachelor's degree from any area of study.
